Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Why?
"We have breaking lateral symmetry on Virginia Tech. That's a 15 yard penalty, and loss of down."
I turned over to ESPN to see if there was a Thursday night college football game on, and I find that Boston College is playing at Virginia Tech. For some reason, the Hokies of the Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University has always had colors of maroon, orange, and white. Maroon and white, that's okay, I approve. Same thing for orange and white. But maroon with orange accents, this I've never understood. But even worse, for tonight's game the orange is sneaking out a little more than usual--the Hokies have one orange sleave and one maroon sleave. The torso and right shoulder and sleave are maroon with white numbers, including numbers on the shoulder. However, the left shoulder and left long sleave undershirt if the player wears it, are orange and there are no numbers. While I do like the Steelers' helmet decal only on one side, and kickers having shoes that don't match are okay, but this makes no sense.
October 29:
ADDENDUM Now Florida is wearing similar orange-left-shouldered blue jerseys against Georgia in the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. This is a really disturbing trend that the NCAA must put a stop to. Where's Miles Brand when you need him? Also, I believe Nike has had their logo on both jerseys. Is a corporate boycot in order?
